TSSA's Role and Mandate

TSSA is an independent safety regulator responsible for safe operation of boilers, pressure vessels, and related equipment under the Technical Standards and Safety Act (TSSA Act) and O. Reg. 220/01.

Ontario Pressure Equipment Exemptions (O. Reg. 220/01)

  • Vessels with MAWP not exceeding 15 psig
  • Vessels with internal diameter not exceeding 6 inches
  • Vessels with volume not exceeding 1.5 cubic feet below 250°F
  • Small water heaters and domestic appliances

Ontario CRN Submission Process

  • Submit through TSSA online portal
  • Ontario P.Eng. stamp required on all sealed documents
  • TSSA Data Sheet (Form OE-E01) required for vessels
  • Review time: 8–16 weeks typical
