ABSA's Technical Review Standards

ABSA's design registration engineers conduct detailed reviews that go significantly beyond other Canadian authorities. ABSA reviewers scrutinize nozzle reinforcement calculations, support designs, material impact testing requirements, and piping stress analysis. Authority review time depends on the regulator, the equipment category and how complete the file is. Several authorities do not publish a standard review time.

ABSA Required Documentation

• Form AB-31 Design Registration Application, with AB-31a minimum required information for pressure vessels, heat exchangers and boilers (AB-31b for pressure piping). Source: ABSA design registration forms
• P.Eng. licensed in Alberta (APEGA) required for all authenticated documents
• Detailed calculation package: nozzle calcs, support calcs, wind/seismic analysis
• Material specifications and impact test records at design MDMT
