CRN Lifecycle: From Design to Approval
Getting a Canadian Registration Number is a structured process with defined phases. Understanding the lifecycle helps manufacturers plan production schedules and avoid costly delays. Kopfkino manages the entire CRN lifecycle from initial scope review through CRN issuance and closeout.
Phase 1: Scope and Feasibility
Kopfkino assesses the equipment type, applicable pressure codes, required jurisdictions, and optimal registration pathway. This phase identifies compliance gaps early before drawings are completed.
Phase 2: Design Development and Code Compliance
The design phase produces ASME-code compliant calculations covering all pressure-containing components. For existing designs, we review and validate for CSA B51 compliance gaps.
Phase 3: Documentation Assembly
Kopfkino assembles the full submission package: P.Eng.-sealed drawings, calculation report, authority-specific forms, cover letter, and notarized Statutory Declaration for fittings.
Phase 4–5: Filing, Correspondence, and Comment Resolution
We file with the authority and manage all correspondence. Our familiarity with each authority's preferences means comments are typically resolved in one round.
Phase 6: CRN Issuance and Closeout
Upon approval, Kopfkino delivers a complete digital closeout package: CRN confirmation, final sealed drawings, calculation report, and full correspondence log.
