High-pressure chemical reactors, hydrocracking reactors, and industrial autoclaves operate at pressures and temperatures that require the most rigorous pressure vessel engineering and CRN registration. These vessels often involve Division 2 or Division 3 code approaches, FEA, and fatigue analysis.

Code Selection for High-Pressure Reactors

• ASME VIII Division 1: up to approximately 3,000 psig for most geometries
• ASME VIII Division 2: alternative rules for optimized wall thickness; up to about 20,000 psig
• ASME VIII Division 3: for very high pressure above 10,000 psig
