Nova Scotia's pressure equipment registration is handled through ACI Central Inc., a not-for-profit organization in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, which names the regulators of Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Yukon, the Northwest Territories and Nunavut as its participating authorities. A single ACI Central application can request registration in any combination of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador. ACI Central's application lists the jurisdictions that can be selected; confirm territorial registrations with the territory. In Nova Scotia, the regulation provides that only the BPE chief inspector may issue a CRN or add a provincial designator (N.S. Reg. 10/2011). ACI Central Inc. was established to provide cost-effective design registration review for jurisdictions that individually would have insufficient volume to maintain full-time engineering review staff. Its Design Registration Application lets one application request registration in any combination of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador. Authority review time depends on the regulator, the equipment category and how complete the file is. Several authorities do not publish a standard review time.
